ANTI PHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME (APS)

ANTI PHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME (APS)

It is seen in 10-15% of recurrent pregnancy losses. The most common clinical finding is venous and arterial vascular occlusion.

It most commonly affects the central nervous system. APS should be considered if vascular occlusion develops in an unusual place in the body. Pregnancy losses are more common after 10 weeks. There are some tests that need to be done every 3 months for the diagnosis of this patient, and if these tests are positive, patients should be followed closely in terms of TGK, complications that may develop during and after pregnancy, and special treatments should be given.

We call some coagulation disorders that cause recurrent pregnancy losses thrombophilia. In patients with thrombophilia, the findings occur mostly in early pregnancy and there is partial or complete blockage in the vessels where the embryo attaches to the uterus. This causes recurrent pregnancy loss and placental insufficiency.

Some special treatments are required in these patients with a positive pregnancy test.
