The foundations of a healthy life are laid in childhood. Pediatric Immunology and Allergy Diseases Specialist Assoc. Dr. Ayşenur Kaya said, "You can strengthen your children's immune system with foods rich in probiotics. Especially in this season, drink plenty of tarhana, feed home-made yoghurt, and keep sauerkraut made with natural vinegar on your table. Make delicious snacks with persimmon instead of sugar and chocolate."
Some families complain about their children being sick too often. Flu, throat infection, allergic diseases or intestinal problems… Did you know that your nutritional habits affect the health of your children? Assoc. Dr. Ayşenur Kaya gave important information that will shed light on families.
Habits acquired in childhood play a big role on the immune system. In order to raise a healthy individual, families need to make room for probiotics on their tables. Ready-made foods disrupt healthy eating habits and prevent the child from receiving beneficial nutrients. In addition, the additives it contains affect immunity by causing reflux. Our studies showed that the intestinal flora and bacterial diversity of children with food allergies are different from other children. Therefore, a diet rich in probiotics for children regulates the intestinal flora and may reduce the development of allergic diseases.
You must choose between hamburgers, fries, chips, chocolate, candy or fizzy drinks and your child's health. If you have a habit of eating fast food or junk food, your children will probably get used to the foods you feed them. Instead, make your children love tarhana soup, give them homemade yoghurt or sauerkraut made with natural vinegar as a snack instead of chips. You can make eggs with leeks. You can choose cheese sandwiches made with multigrain bread instead of white bread. You can serve lentil meatballs with olive oil and onion. You can drink kefir or ayran with it. If he wants to eat dessert, you can crush the persimmon and mix it with walnuts or peanuts to make a delicious snack. Likewise, you can also feed bananas, apples and pomegranates.
In addition to nutrition: Keeping your child away from cigarettes, mold and moisture can reduce the development of asthma and bronchitis. If we can detect and remove the substances to which the child is allergic, we can prevent the development of allergic diseases. Patients who are sick frequently, have persistent runny nose or congestion, and recurrent cough and wheezing should be evaluated by a pediatric immunologist and allergist. With early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, allergy and asthma treatment gives satisfactory results.
