There are some people; He is unpredictable, reacts to the same situations as if he were a different person, has sudden emotional changes, is absent-minded, and never remembers certain periods in his life. These people may be DID.
What is DKB?
It is the state of having more than one personality in one person (one body). The mind, which is normally singular and holistic, splits and becomes plural and fragmented due to various reasons, usually a trauma. Due to the division of the mind, the integrity of consciousness, self-perception and memory is lost. When control of the body is taken over by different personalities, the person begins to react to the same situations like different people.
The main symptoms of Dissociative Identity Disorder, which is among the dissociative disorders, are as follows: They hear voices. These sounds may be two or more. This person's inner voice should not be confused with family. The voices mentioned in DID do not belong to the person but sound like someone else's speech.
Sudden emotional changes are observed in these people. It's as if another person suddenly appears and starts talking to you. Often these people are described as unstable. Such reactions should not be confused with Borderline personality disorder and Bipolar patients.
Certain periods are erased as a block in the memories of those with DID. He may not remember anything about the holiday you went on two years ago. These people do not remember their life stories without interruption, as if there were breaks in the movie. They become very absent-minded and get distracted when they are in the same environment with you.
Those with DID are generally people who daydream a lot and are distracted. These people may be diagnosed with attention deficit disorder in childhood, but the treatments given generally do not give effective results.
People suffering from this disorder may be diagnosed with some psychological disorders. They do not respond to antipsychotic medications started for treatment.
Reason:
DID develops as a result of the mind's division and coping strategy in the face of difficulties. When faced with difficulties in childhood, people try to cope with these difficulties. They develop a way and a strategy for k. For example, a child may act cute to avoid being beaten by his or her mother after doing something naughty, another child may lie, and another may step up and blame his or her mother. If the path chosen by the child works, he begins to use this strategy in similar situations.
Some children choose to forget when faced with a difficulty. Especially in cases of sexual harassment, gross neglect and abuse. The child forgets that event, but a part of him who experienced that trauma always remains in his mind. In such cases, a part of the mind remains experiencing that pain. In other words, the mind divides and creates another personality within itself. From now on, this child chooses this path whenever he is forced and creates multiple personalities in his mind. These personalities take control of the body at certain moments of the day. The resulting sub-personalities are called alters. Alters' perceptions of age, size, profession, gender... may be different.
The main cause of DID is based on uncopeable traumatic experiences experienced before adolescence (before the age of approximately 12). These challenging experiences; There may be situations such as sexual harassment, rape, constant disagreement between parents, a physical illness that requires hospitalization, constant beating from the mother or father or a caregiver, excessive criticism and constant ignoring of the child's psychological and physiological needs.
Treatment:
The main treatment of dissociative identity disorder is psychotherapy. In some cases, it can be supported by medication, but it cannot be cured by medication alone. Drug treatment is used in cases of comorbid conditions with DID. The process can be carried out with different therapy methods, but EMDR treatment provides effective results in resolving alters' traumatic memories.
The treatment process varies depending on the number of alters, the multiplicity of traumas, sexual harassment-rape situations and the person's psychoimmune system (psychological resilience).
