What Causes Anxiety Disorder?

Recently, many patients who go to the doctor are diagnosed with anxiety disorders. There is a very important question that patients who are only informed about the symptoms of anxiety do not ask: "What causes anxiety disorder?" Every disease has reasons for its occurrence, and its treatment is determined according to these reasons. For example, the cause of influenza is the entry of germs and flu viruses into the human body. These reasons are key in determining the content of the treatment to be used in recovery. When the causes of anxiety disorder are investigated and found, a good recovery process will occur with the right treatment method.

Biological causes: Anxiety disorder, like other disorders, has biological causes. These reasons may be a bit complicated, to be brief, many studies have shown that neurotransmitters are effective in the formation of anxiety disorder. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that enable neurons (cells) in our brain to communicate. The names of these chemicals are norepinephrine, serotonin and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Research shows that abnormalities in this chemical system play a role in the formation of anxiety. In addition, anxiety and fear occur in some parts of our brain. Many animal experiments have shown that anxiety and fear occur in the locusceruleus region in the pons, the main cells of our brain's noradrenergic system, and it has been found that fear and anxiety occur by stimulating this region. It has been revealed that by removing this area, fear and anxiety do not occur in animals. In general, we can say that anxiety is produced in some parts of our brain and occurs as a result of the abnormality in the release of the chemicals we mentioned above. Research in this field is very new and not sufficient.

Psychological reasons: Anxiety is a warning against possible threats. Anxiety disorder is an increase in the intensity and frequency of anxiety experienced. It causes people to become unable to even do their daily work. Behaviorist theories say that negative parental attitudes are significantly, if not completely, effective in the formation of anxiety. These negative parental attitudes are the behaviors that children learn through modeling. they are landing. Such parents instill in their children that the world is full of negativity and danger and does not inspire trust. Mothers and fathers show anxious behavior and obstructive attitudes about their children's ability to know and control the world. These attitudes and behaviors may cause them to raise children who may have anxiety disorders in the future.

Social reasons: Stressful life events can cause us to see life as more negative and dangerous. What are these life events? There may be the loss of a loved one, divorce, separation, marriage, moving, dismissal and difficulties encountered in business life. For example, you lost a relative in a traffic accident. Afterwards, you thought that the traffic was dangerous and had the feeling that if you went out into traffic, you would encounter the same disaster. You may not want to drive in traffic after this incident. Getting in the car and traveling can cause anxiety. Thinking that the stressful events you encounter will always happen and that you will be helpless to cope may cause you to get this disorder.
