Have you ever thought about who manages our lives and how we make our decisions? Is it us or our fears that shape our lives? We are afraid of death, being alone, growing old, getting sick, loving too much, getting attached, losing, being broke, failing and many other things... On the one hand, we are not satisfied with our lives, we continue to live behind our fears, and on the other hand, we have big dreams and goals. In order to get out of this meaningless vicious circle and take control of our lives, we first need to face our fears. It is not easy to leave our accustomed comfort zone and face fears. But we can never live the life we dream of without realizing and confronting our fears. We cannot ignore or deny our fears, but we can make sense of them and transform them. Although it may be difficult to break the order we have been accustomed to for years, we must be brave to get out of our comfort zone. Even though it is difficult to get away from our safe space and familiar unhappiness, this cycle, which upsets us and destroys our hopes every time, will continue in the same way. The moment we decide to step out of the victim role, we take the first step towards true freedom.
So how do we get rid of our fears? First of all, we will not deny them, ignore them and accept them. Instead of fighting with the negativity that has piled up like a dark cloud over us, we will deal with today, what we are doing in the moment we live in. We are in the present, we will stop worrying about tomorrow, evaluate today healthily and prepare ourselves for tomorrow.
If we want a beautiful life, the first step we need to take is to face our fears... Instead of trying to eliminate our fears, we should strive to transform them. Sometimes we are afraid to leave our area where we feel safe and we resist it. However, in order to progress and develop, it is necessary to have the courage to accept change.
One of the most effective techniques for getting rid of our fears is to prepare a "Fear List". Write down the following stages one by one.
-
Make a list of your fears and note next to each fear when it first started.
-
Consider how these came about. What or who was the reason?
-
How did these fears develop over the years, how and in what areas do they affect your life?
After preparing a list of fears, make a “Overcoming My Fears” list in which you will determine what you will do about them.
-
Beside each fear, you will learn how to start facing it and how much time you need. Write down.
-
Get information from reliable sources on the subject.
-
This process should be prepared according to your strengths and realities. So don't push yourself too hard and start from whatever you can do as the first step.
-
Start with small and easy steps and increase the level. Thus, when you succeed, your motivation will increase.
-
Note in the list how each of your steps worked, if not, find out why the method did not work and try again. Don't give up.
-
Accept that you may need help with some steps, add someone who can accompany you to the list to be with you only when necessary. This way you won't feel alone.
