Anxiety

To open the concept of anxiety with its most basic steps, it is the state of being alert when a dangerous event happens to a person or living as if something bad is going to happen. The concepts of fear and anxiety need to be separated. In fear, people are alert to a situation that may happen to them in the present. Anxiety, on the other hand, is the state of being alert because of the worry that something bad will happen to you in the future. To sum it up, fear is about the present, anxiety is about the future. Fear is a short-term emotion while anxiety is a long-term emotion. Anxiety is divided into normal anxiety and pathological anxiety. We normally classify the anxiety that occurs in a person's life, such as real death, virus, disability, or that we have not experienced before and cannot think about.
Anxiety and fear have important effects on people, the most important of which is the activation of our sympathetic nervous system in our body. Fear stimulates our sympathetic nervous system at a high level, while anxiety stimulates our sympathetic nervous system at a low level. Due to the fact that the person experiences anxiety and stimulates our nervous system, the person experiences uneasiness and restlessness. In the case of fear, since our nervous system is highly stimulated, sweating, acceleration in breathing and acceleration of heart rhythm are encountered. Our body has an autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system emerges automatically in our body. The autonomic nervous system is divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic. Para sympathetic nervous system gives our body rest and nervous commands. The sympathetic nervous system gives the fight/flight commands to our body. Fear and anxiety are emotions necessary for our survival. Both emotions form the basis of the fight/flight response. Fear prepares our body to escape or fight by stimulating our sympathetic nervous system from the moment of danger. Fear saves our lives when necessary. Anxiety, on the other hand, gives us the necessary motivation for our behavior and the necessary planning to deal with it, not noticing dangerous events/situations in the future. Research with anxiety shows this time and time again. In laboratory studies, It has been seen that creating a low level of anxiety affects the performance of the task to be performed positively. The critical and most important point here is that the anxiety is at a certain level.

Anxiety disorders are among the very common mental health disorders. A study was conducted in the United States involving 8,000 people. In this study, it was observed that 28% of the participants experienced anxiety disorders at some point in their lives. Phobias are the most common type of anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders pose a risk for other pathological diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases. When faced with other patients with a psychiatric diagnosis, the suicide rate of a person with an anxiety disorder is twice as high. These people have difficulties in finding a job, however, they have communication problems. This is because anxiety disorder has taken over most areas of his life. This disorder affects the functionality of the person negatively.

There are many reasons for anxiety. Living environment, family attitude and how they are brought up in the family are very important. Studies have found that children who grow up with an overprotective and negligent attitude have anxious and depressive symptoms in adulthood.
