Depression and Being Punctual in Life

Human beings have always misused happiness. Always complaining, always bored. One day the angels decided to hide happiness. Let's hide it so it's hard for them to find it. They started the discussion by saying that maybe they would appreciate it because they found it difficult. The problem is big. Hiding happiness wasn't easy. Because some said:

Let's hide it at the top of Everest', some said: At the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean". The dome of the Taj Mahal, the streets of Mecca, the Italian table. Neonatal room of a hospital, ice cream cone. Cigarette pack, tulip garden, etc.

They considered many places, but none of them seemed difficult enough. Then one of the angels said:

'Let's hide it inside', 'Nobody would think of looking inside!'

That day is today. happiness is hidden within oneself.

Depression is unhappiness, hopelessness, depression, lack of pleasure, insomnia, decreased appetite, worthlessness, etc. It was a depressive disorder in which feelings like these were experienced.

I think it would be just a dream to prevent depression completely. Avoiding the intense work tempo, death and life, seasonal changes, and other negativities that life brings would be like rejecting the realities of life. It is an undeniable fact of life that both positive and negative events occur. Having negativities does not mean that there is nothing to be done to protect yourself from depression. If we look at why not all people with similar problems experience the same severity of depression, we can find some prevention methods.

     First, let's start with a solid body. A healthy body is one step to prevent depression. With a healthy diet, you can get the vitamins, minerals, etc. that your body needs. By keeping it in balance, we can prevent the formation of body chemicals that will cause depression. In addition, the natural increase in the happiness hormone called serotonin in the body during various activities and sports can constitute another body health pillar of protecting a person from depression. In addition to all these, protecting physical health is one of the preventers of depression in general, as any physical illness will automatically make the person feel intense sadness.

     Another factor that causes depression is missing social skills. For example, someone who cannot communicate adequately with his friends can find different channels to communicate with his friends. By realizing our shortcomings in making friends, we can make changes on them. Or, if someone who has failed in a job generalizes himself as a failure, it can lead to depression. In order to protect one's own self, one must find and realize the issues in which one is successful. Helping and being kind has an impact on preventing depression because it is linked to socialization. At least saying good morning to our neighbors we see in the morning is a form of socialization and has positive effects.

    One of the most important factors causing depression is the lack of positive thinking. Thinking positively is not like playing Pollyanna, it is a more realistic attitude. For example, instead of constantly focusing on one's own problems, it means seeing the situation as more acceptable while moving away from one's own problem by dealing with the problems of others, perhaps by seeing bigger problems. In fact, it means being able to say, “My problem or I am not bad at all.”

    One of the important points is that, as can be understood from the story at the beginning, we should try to find the happiness hidden within us. It is not far away, it is within the person...

Despite all this, sometimes we can fall into depression for reasons beyond our control. The most hopeful thing about depression is that it is treatable.
