Dear clients, in this article, I have listed some suggestions that will be very useful for you to overcome social phobia.
- Accept your social anxiety; Social phobia is a problem that can be seen in almost 2 out of every 10 people in society. So accept being shy, “loser,” excited, or ordinary for a while. So, as “Beisser” said, “in order to change, you must first be who you are”. Realizing where you are is the most important factor in getting you to your goal.
- Don't judge anyone: If you are afraid of being judged, don't judge; When social phobics realize that they are actually very judgmental and change this attitude, their fear of being judged will decrease.
- Focus on the moment and the work you are doing; Constantly focus on what you are doing rather than focusing on not making mistakes or getting approved. As you focus on being strong, perfect, and social, your tension increases. You will see that you can act very comfortably when you focus on the present and the environment you are in.
- Focus on yourself and your breathing and never break contact;, Thanks to techniques such as correct breathing techniques, mindfulness and meditation, a person can gain the ability to move comfortably and from the center.
- Since the use of medication alone is not sufficient in social phobia, psychotherapy must be added to the therapy. Psychotherapy helps you make the necessary changes quickly with the awareness it creates and leads to permanent improvement. In other words, acquired skills are permanent once awareness occurs.
- Going above and beyond and enduring distress: This technique, which is generally recommended by most therapists but cannot be done by many clients, does not work very well without mindfulness. However, if you start with small steps and plan together with the therapist, success is inevitable.
