The Covid-19 pandemic, which has been affecting our country since March, has increased its speed. Curfew restrictions gradually started again, first for children and young people, then for our citizens over the age of 65, and finally for everyone. Most of us are naturally very afraid of the coronavirus epidemic. Some of us changed our lifestyles and ways of working, consciously and out of necessity, considering the health of ourselves and those around us. We spend every day expecting medicine and vaccines that provide a permanent treatment for coronavirus, and hoping that the disease does not happen to us. The news of contacts, cases and deaths among the people we hear and know around us has gradually increased. While those of us with chronic illnesses, who are constantly warned by health authorities, are mostly aware of the process from the beginning, our young/middle-aged working individuals who do not have an active disease are having difficulty adapting to the current situation. So, is the pandemic process limited only to Covid-19 and its pathological effects during the disease? Unfortunately no. Other diseases that plague humanity, especially chronic diseases, have not left the square to the coronavirus and gone on vacation. On the contrary, they tend to make them forget themselves, become more insidious and make all conditions more difficult. While we are confined to our homes, we need to remain inactive, consume more calories than we need, and remember some of the dangers of a monotonous routine.
Our citizens over the age of 65 are more sensitive to diseases caused by calcification caused by inactivity. This inertia routine, which also accelerates the degeneration of the joints and discs between the vertebrae, virtually invites disc herniation and spinal canal stenosis. In individuals who significantly reduce movement in their daily lives, their spine ages faster than normal. We can see that the wear and tear that would have occurred over the years has now occurred within months. That's why our elderly people should pay more attention to doing their daily exercises. It is of great importance that they use the limited time they can go out with walks.
Our former office workers, who are now mostly working from home, are suffering from cervical disc herniation, lumbar disc herniation, carpal tunnel syndrome. They are at risk of developing mechanical diseases such as mucous membranes and spinal calcification (spine canal stenosis), accelerating the course of already existing ones. They have to adapt the working environment at home to the ergonomics of the waist, neck and wrist, and spend some of the time they can go out walking and exercising for both spine and muscle health and general physical health.
During the pandemic, especially surgical diseases. The treatment of all diseases that require hospital admission and hospitalization is more risky and troublesome. Unfortunately, every time you go to the hospital, every minute you spend inside, every examination you have to undergo, or every surgery you have to undergo, you unintentionally increase the possibility of contracting Covid-19. So what is the solution? Are we going to take the easy way out and surrender, saying that whatever is in destiny happens, or are we going to use our minds and declare the mobilization of our own physical health in a way that will reduce our tendency to other diseases? Of course, the second one is logically in favor of not only us but also the whole society. For this reason, those with chronic diseases should never relax the precautions they take with their diseases, and those without the disease should pay much more attention to their physical health than before the pandemic. Those working in difficult conditions should take every precaution they can, no matter how small or small, without ignoring it. In this process where it is not all or nothing, reducing risks is the only solution we have. What will make this solution an effective weapon is turning this understanding into a reflex that will reduce the power of all diseases, including Covid-19, and changing not only our lives but also our way of thinking. We will think about our health first in every step we take and in every decision we make. Yes, maybe nothing will be the same as before the pandemic, but it is only in our hands that the future will be better.
