Manual Therapy for Groin Pain
If you cannot cross-legged while sitting...
As the importance of healthy living, exercise and sports is emphasized day by day, the interest in gyms and sports equipment increases. While sports performed correctly can create wonders for your body, incorrect or uncontrolled sports can cause serious injuries.
The muscles most used in sports such as running, football, swimming, horseback riding and gymnastics are the inner leg muscle group. Repetitive movements and challenging stresses cause injuries to the muscles and especially the tendons in the leg, near the groin. 'adductor tendinitis', also known as 'groin pain', is an injury that occurs as a result of excessive sports or uncontrolled movements.
Stiffness and pain in the groin area in the morning and pain in the groin at the beginning of activity are the most typical findings. During walking, there may be a feeling of pulling and straining in the groin, or even sharp and stinging pains that may interfere with walking. At the same time, there is sensitivity when the injured tendon is touched.
So, why does groin pain occur?
IT DEVELOPS AS A RESULT OF EXTRACTION AND OVERUSE
“Pain in the groin area is only an orthopedic injury. It should not be considered as. It is absolutely necessary to be examined in the relevant departments. Orthopedic examination performed after other diseases have been eliminated makes it easier to diagnose the pathology.
Pain and injury in the groin area most often develop as a result of strain and overuse. Not doing enough stretching and warming up, and uncontrolled stretching and strengthening exercises cause the tendon to be overloaded, resulting in an inflammatory reaction.
THOSE WHO CANNOT STAND LEGGED...
In some people, the inner leg muscles are overloaded. is short. People with short muscles in this muscle group often complain about not being able to sit cross-legged or sit on the floor. Physiologically short muscles do not have proper circulation and nutrition and do not have sufficient strength. This makes the muscles vulnerable to injury.
IF THE SHORTNESS IN YOUR LEG IS MORE THAN 1 CM
Right and The difference in length between the left legs is another factor that is often overlooked and causes groin pain. The human body can adjust the length difference between the legs up to 1 cm. r can tolerate without problems arising. However, in pathological cases and with a difference of more than 1 cm, the balance of load distribution in the muscles around the hip and leg is disrupted. Excessive load is placed on the tendons.
YOU SHOULD REST
The most important element in the treatment of groin pain is rest. Considering that the mechanism of injury is due to overuse and strain, protecting and resting the tendon and muscle is a priority. Ice application should be started immediately along with rest. Ice applied for 20 minutes every 2 hours during the day reduces swelling and inflammation in the tendon.
APPLY MANUAL THERAPY
With Manual Therapy applications, tense and adherent muscle fibers are separated from each other. Inflammation in the tendon is distributed using a special technique called friction. Reducing edema and inflammation and increasing circulation with manual therapy accelerate the healing process. Painless full movement is achieved a few days after starting treatment. With the treatment program supported by exercises, recovery is achieved within a few weeks.”
