Although games are an indispensable satisfaction for people of all ages, their place in children's lives is much more important. Game; - It is the ideal environment that ensures the child's intelligence, body and personality development, - It is a means of socialization of the child and helps him adapt, - It is the child's expression of himself, - It is a method of learning the rules through his own experiences, - It is a bridge between imagination and reality, - It is the expression of the child's inner world , - It is the use of latent energy, - It is an area where the child learns social and moral values, GAME is an activity that completely affects the child's personality in general. Play is the most comfortable and perhaps the only place for children to express their feelings and thoughts. It is not as easy for children to express and cope with their emotions as it is for adults. Adults can evaluate the negativities they encounter in their lives and produce ideas to overcome them; children acquire the same skill during play. Just as it is necessary for the child to be well nourished and to meet his/her self-care needs in order to grow and develop in a healthy way, it is also important for the child to learn to make sense of the events around him through play, as it will support his physical and spiritual development. We can evaluate the game in two steps; While playing, the child communicates with other children, develops communication and relationship skills, and learns to cope with the feelings of winning and losing. This is the social stage of the game. The performance of the child during the game, which improves with practice every day, constitutes the cognitive step. There are two types of games, unstructured games; It is a form of play that does not limit the child, supports creativity, allows the child to add something of himself to the game, and most importantly, social communication is almost always involved. Structured games; These are games played in a certain way, with predetermined rules, in which the child does not contribute much of himself. Computer games and game consoles are in this group. It has been determined through research that children prefer such games more due to technological advances and the influence of television. These types of games do not satisfy children's social needs. This shows that it inhibits and pacifies children's creativity. While play plays an important role in a child's life, you should ensure that your children play with unstructured games and toys. I hope you have happy and healthy days with your children.
