In the first in vitro fertilization applications, it was thought that obtaining a large number of eggs, with the use of very intensive medication, increased the chance of success. But in recent years, it has been revealed that many eggs impair egg quality and reduce the chance of pregnancy.
MINI- What is the IVF protocol?
MINI-IVF is a very special protocol developed by Kato Clinic in Japan. This protocol does not include daily injections and high doses of medication. It is a simplified in vitro fertilization treatment that does not even require the use of progesterone injections that last until the 10th week. Success rates are higher than other classical treatments, especially in older patients.
MINI-IVF is based on the principle of developing fewer but better quality eggs. After these developed eggs are collected, classical in vitro fertilization and ICSI techniques are applied. Afterwards, the resulting quality embryos are transferred to the patient. What is different in this treatment is the egg development method.
To whom can MINI-IVF be applied?
The aim of MINI-IVF is not to obtain a large number of eggs, but to obtain quality eggs. For this reason, even if your body produces an egg, there is no such thing as canceling the treatment or not being treated due to your age. Having one healthy egg is enough to give birth to a baby.
In women who are older or whose ovarian reserve is decreasing;
Giving less medication in these patients ensures that the eggs develop and have better quality with the patient's own hormones.
In women who are young and have a large number of egg production;
Especially in women with polycystic ovary disease, it is applied to ensure better egg development and to protect the patient from the risk of hyperstimulation. Excessive egg development also causes excessive production of estrogen hormone and thus deterioration of egg quality. For this reason, overstimulation of the eggs is prevented by using very little medication.
In patients who do not have healthy egg and embryo development in in vitro fertilization treatments; The aim is to obtain eggs.
