Diet and Nutrition During Pregnancy

Ideal nutrition during pregnancy can be achieved with a balanced diet. Choosing a healthy and balanced diet helps to experience fewer problems. During pregnancy, the baby's only source of nutrition is the mother. It should be taken regularly from various food groups.

During pregnancy, it is especially recommended to drink plenty of fluids, consume less salt, consume less caffeine-containing beverages such as tea and coffee, and avoid alcohol and cigarettes. In our country, where iron deficiency is common in women, the doctor's recommendations regarding iron deficiency should be followed carefully.

Protein requirement increases during pregnancy. Fish, meat, milk, dairy products and legumes should be consumed regularly. Twice as much calcium as normal should be consumed. This will ensure that the baby's bone and tooth structure is healthy. Milk, yoghurt and green leafy vegetables can be taken to meet calcium needs. Fibrous foods will minimize constipation, which can be common during pregnancy. Folic acid should be taken with care since the first period of pregnancy. Green vegetables are rich in folic acid.
