The knee is a joint with perfect anatomy and biomechanics. The tissue that plays the most important role in performing all the activities we do throughout the day perfectly and painlessly is the cartilage tissue that completely covers the bone above the joint. Rheumatic diseases such as arthritis (arthrosis), rheumatoid arthritis or trauma are diseases that affect the knee joint cartilage. In cases where the cartilage is severely affected, the cartilage tissue covering the knee joint is completely lost. From this moment on, the bone ends that form the joint begin to rub against each other during movement. As a result of friction, noise in the joint, pain and even limitation of movement develop over time. When the disease progresses further, curvatures occur in the legs due to the effect of friction and the deformation of the bones.
In order to correct the painful condition that occurs in the joints due to the absence of cartilage tissue that should normally be in the joint, the friction of the bones is applied. The process of placing a blocking material, that is, covering the joint, is called "Knee Prosthesis Surgery". Thanks to the process of covering the worn joint part, knee movements can be relieved and made painless. It is also possible to correct leg deformities caused by the disease during the placement of the prosthesis. The aim is to enable patients to live a comfortable, pain-free and active life. Prosthetic surgery is a treatment performed for the comfort of patients.
