Male Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (libido) Disorder (HSDD) is a problem that is difficult to define and its prevalence in the society is given as wide as 3-50%.
Common approach; It is the lack of sufficient sexual fantasy and desire for sexual activity and the acceptance of this as a problem for the person and his relationship.
There are various stages that determine sexual activity in men. If the person's desire continues with stimulation, erection in the sexual organ is observed. The erection that occurs progresses to orgasm and ejaculation phase with the continuation of stimulation. The last stage is a general state of relaxation that we call resolution.
However, according to the recent widespread approach, the initial part of these stages in men is intertwined. In other words, in a man, desire may occur before arousal, or it may lead to sexual desire during arousal (such as physical stimulation).
Lack of sexual desire may not always be perceived as a problem by the person. For example; In a society with ethical judgments that sexual activity should only be done for the purpose of having children, this may not be considered a problem and may be a virtuous person. The opposite is that sexuality is accepted as a part of lifelong body functions in society and its absence is immediately perceived as a problem. Sometimes it can be observed that these two opposing ideas coexist in various dimensions in the same society.
Lack of sexual desire can occur from the first moments of a person's sexual activities, that is, throughout life, or can be observed at any stage of his life. Again, this lack of sexual desire may be a problem that the person observes all the time, regardless of the situation, or it may be limited only to the person he is with. Of course, in this case, there is a couple problem.
For this reason, it is of great importance to first listen well to a person with this type of problem and to determine at what point what kind of problem he is experiencing.
In his treatment, biopsychosocial approach, that is, The person should be considered in his/her physical/spiritual integrity and his/her partner and environment should be included in the evaluation as well as the factors related to him/her.
