What is Periodontology (Gum Diseases)?

Periodontal diseases are inflammatory diseases that affect the gums and other tissues that support the teeth. Periodontal diseases are responsible for 70% of tooth loss in adults. These diseases can be treated easily and successfully when diagnosed at an early stage.

Gum diseases begin with gingivitis in the early stages. Gums with gingivitis are bleeding and red. Although it does not bother the patient in the initial period, if left untreated, it paves the way for advanced periodontal disorders. Periodontal disease can cause irreversible consequences.

Main symptoms of gum disease:

  • Gum bleeding during brushing

  • Red and sensitive gums than normal

  • Increased tooth mobility

  • Halitosis (bad breath)

    The main reason for gum diseases is bacterial plaque that accumulates in the mouth. The first way to prevent the formation of bacterial plaque is to perform thorough daily oral care. Regular brushing and flossing of teeth every day and regular doctor checks are important to prevent gum diseases.

    • Red, swollen and sensitive gums

    How is dental scaling performed?

Then, the polishing process, which we call polishing, is started. Polishing can also be done with various pastes. . Tea, coffee and cigarette stains on the teeth are cleaned.
