In today's world, families direct their children to many sports and art activities to support their cognitive and motor development. Do these activities really serve their purpose? Within the current education system, children find themselves in an intense bombardment of academic information in schools from 09.00 in the morning to 16.00 in the evening, starting from the kindergarten level. During this time; They are trying to keep themselves open in terms of attention and perception for the languages they are trying to learn, second languages, reading / writing studies, mathematics, informatics and many other lessons, which, as you will appreciate, is not an easy process at all.
So much so that some parents compare this situation with the time they were studying and use the phrase "it wasn't that difficult in our time" a lot.
But who actually decides what children really want to do in their free time from school?
Is it the children themselves, their parents, the guidance of their teachers or friends?
If the answer is the child himself, there is no problem. If the child willingly engages in an additional social activity outside of school where he can experience physical and mental relaxation, we cannot finish counting the benefits of this.
However, if the answer is other people; First of all, the need for the child of the family to appear in various clubs as a social being outside of school; It means we have a problem here.
Because at this point, we go beyond our purpose and the person we want to comfort is not our child, but ourselves. So much so that some families organize every minute of their children's time in advance and fill almost every day of the week with a lot of activities. But is this true? Is there really a winner here? This situation not only puts a strain on the children, but also the families have to run around and put the child in a lot of traffic, parks, etc. They try to carry the stress to the clubs.
At the end of the day, they reach home with tired, stressed bodies and brains; We see people collapsing on the sofa, engrossed in their phones or televisions, with their souls turned to jelly. We need to think about what kind of satisfaction this situation creates within us. Who are we, ace What do we really want, do we know our child?
When we look inside ourselves, does the thought of our child doing things that we could not do in the past actually satisfy us? Or is it the social anxiety that the society in front of us creates on us because we live in a certain group? So-and-so's son goes to some tennis club, ours should too. So-and-so's daughter produces magnificent works in her ceramics workshop, should we have ours written as well?
However, the entire experiential existence of man is built on the basis of playing games. Children also become creative while playing freely. In absence, the brain starts to work, looks for an exit, exercises its imagination, tries new methods, solves problems.
A child who spends 10 hours a day sleeping, 9 hours at school and in transportation has 5 hours left. will remain. Considering that he will devote 1/1.5 of these remaining 5 hours to his nutrition and general needs, he will focus on his classes for the remaining 1/1.5 hour. In this case, our children have at best 2 hours of rest and entertainment time left. But if his/her agenda is full during this period, when can you as a family interact and create a sincere and caring bond between you and your child?
One of the most painful facts of the modern age is that this is fast and unquestionable. This is because we are constantly pushed to be in the system.
That is why many of our children, who live and study at the best standards, are at a time when they need psychological guidance so much due to behavioral disorders.
Let them get bored and live in the moment.
