Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy and was developed by Dr. in the 1970s. It was created by Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis. Although at first it seemed suitable only for the treatment of "depression", today it is used especially for anxiety disorders, phobias, social anxiety, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorders, eating disorders and even personality disorders. It has been proven by international publications that it is used in many disorders and successful results are obtained.

To define it in its simplest form, the main theme of Cognitive Therapyis the philosophy of "we see things as we are, not as they are" is based on. We feel sad, angry, surprised, etc. in the face of a situation. It depends on how we perceive the event. Negative life events we have experienced in the past create certain stereotyped thoughts and beliefs in us. These beliefs then cause the person to perceive the events he/she experiences in a distorted and distant way from reality, causing some psychological distress. Negative thoughts distort our perception and we tend to perceive the event negatively. In treatment with CBT, which examines the relationship of events with emotions and thoughts, it helps us regulate our distorted perception with various techniques and look at events from a more rational perspective.

Although it varies depending on the intensity and type of distress, improvement can be observed in the client after an average of 8-10 sessions. Then, the therapy is gradually terminated and the client is called for a control meeting after 6 months.

CBT is inherently based on the principle of "here and now", so it is more effective than past experiences. very g� It focuses on current life. The future is far away; Although some of the events that will happen in the past can be controlled as much as possible, the person remains helpless for most of them. It depends on being motivated and open to change.
