How Should Scoliosis Be Treated?

Scoliosis is an abnormally curved shape of the spine. A normal spine structure is such that there is a curve in the upper part of the shoulder and a curve in the lower back. If the spine is curved from side to side or in an "S" or "C" shape, you may have Scoliosis.

Based on various medical studies, approximately 80% of those who experience scoliosis have no identifiable cause. Scoliosis symptoms are generally diagnosed when the person is 7 years old. Common causes of scoliosis can be seen as birth defects, neurological disorders and genetic structure.

The most common type is idiopathic scoliosis (cause unknown). It is considered as 0-3 years of age for a baby, 4-10 years of age for a child, and 11-18 years of age and 18 years of age for adolescence. The most common of these is Adolescent Scoliosis.

The rate at which the cause of scoliosis can be determined can be considered as 20%. Types in which the cause can be determined; These are conditions in which spinal deformities are evident at birth and nerve abnormalities affect the muscles in the spine.

Scoliosis disease can also be categorized as Structural and Non-Structural.

-Structural Scoliosis; The curve of the spine is caused by a disease, injury or birth defect and is permanent.

-Non-structural Scoliosis; It defines temporary curves that can be corrected.
