Intraoral Appliances

There are many types of appliances used in certain situations, mostly in the treatment of young people and children. They are generally removable and consist of acrylic structure.

Frequently used intraoral appliances:

1- Expansion appliances: Lower and upper They are used to expand the jaw or tooth rows

2-Spring appliances: They can be combined with expansion appliances or used alone. They are used to move one or more teeth

3-Functional appliances:They are generally appliances that direct the growth of the lower jaw forward. If the lower jaw is directed forward due to the contact of the front teeth, there are also functional appliances that push the lower jaw backward. They are used to open the mouth

5-Habit stopping devices:They are devices that prevent situations such as finger sucking, tongue sucking, lip sucking, nail biting, atypical swallowing

6-Support-receiving appliances: They are used to get support during fixed orthodontic (done with braces) treatment

7-Athlete appliances: Used during sports, treatment condition They are appliances used to protect teeth, even if they are not
