Things to Consider When Choosing a Career

After a long marathon, after passing the tough exams, it's time to think about which profession I should study to make me happier, more successful, and earn more money.

What criteria do we look at when choosing a profession? As S. Konsept Danışmanlık, we asked the following questions to 100 LYS and LGS students who studied in 4 different districts, public and private schools last year, to determine the criteria by which we choose the profession we will study, and we got the results. The results of the survey show that university candidates do not choose the profession in which they can be happy or the career options of their dreams, but the professions that are imposed on them, or they play with their future profession.

When choosing a profession, everyone around us affects us, or we learn the opinions of the people around us. We strive for. This shows that we do not actually have the profession we idealize and we are not aware of our own abilities.

Choosing a profession is not like choosing a lover or choosing a house, because you can sell or rent the house after a certain period of time. Even though we have so many options, we invest by looking at the durability of the house, credit opportunities, infrastructure, workmanship and neighbourhood. So, why can't we be so meticulous in choosing a profession?

There are certainly many reasons for this, but one of the biggest reasons is that we do not know ourselves well and our self-esteem is not strong enough. That's why the people around us can have a say in our career choice. In this sense, it is sad to see how little we have a say in our own future.

What criteria do we have when choosing our profession? Options such as earning money, working less, traveling a lot, following what your family tells you, or doing your father's job come to the fore.

It is useful to pay attention to these when choosing a career

    1. Consider that you will be doing that profession for 8-10 hours a day, and remember that loving the profession you will be working in is the most important condition for being successful in a profession where you will spend such a long time.

    2. Do you have a career plan in the profession? If so, analyze the career steps.

    3. How well does the working area of the profession (physical phenomena such as office, laboratory, hospital, courthouse, open area, closed area, sea route, air route, headquarters) fit with your way of working and living?

    4. Do you have the ability, skills and initiative required by the profession?

    5. How well do the ethical, social and structural aspects of your profession fit with your lifestyle?

    6. When choosing a profession, do not think of it as a hobby. Perceive it as a working platform where you can actually work and produce 8 hours a day.

    7. Projected job opportunities of the profession in the next 10 years.

    8. Do you get excited and make plans even when you think about your career? This is very important

    9. Think about the effects of your profession on your emotional, social and family life

    10. The negative and positive effects of the profession, such as violence, doubt, mathematics, analysis, questioning, concentration, holistic thinking, coordination, organization, individual talent, creativity, uniformity, chain of command, writing, acting, regular systematic work, on your life. Think about them.

    11. Research whether there is a chance to do a minor while studying the profession.

If you analyze all these 11 items one by one and have mostly positive feelings and thoughts, you may be one step more in the right place in choosing a profession. Another important detail, when considering all these items, do not perceive yourself as small and negative. You have the power to achieve many things whenever you want. We make all these explanations so that you can be successful in the profession you love and are happy with. When choosing a university, you should also consider the scientific and academic structure of the school, its international validity, the social and professional opportunities it offers to students, its campus, the validity of the diploma, the free structure of education, and the social and cultural structure of the province and district where the university is located. Parents inevitably manipulate their children. The attitude of parents is that they talk to their children for hours without judging the professions they choose or want to study, together with someone their children like, love and respect. Because topics discussed without judgment sit better in children's minds.

                       For example:

Do not try to get anywhere with this type of speech, just make him think and learn his thoughts, be surprised, say I will think about it, say a different perspective. . All these approaches are an important factor in our children's choice of the right career.

The biggest distinction between dreams and reality is the individual's perception. Knowing himself well, his practical application of his dreams in the last few years, his way of evaluating his day and his freedom. When all these facts come together, they can create a happy and successful career choice.

In addition to sending our children to private teaching institutions and schools to get good scores in exams, taking them to psychologists and student coaches at regular intervals will positively change our children's perspectives.

Children and our past are neither our future. Children are entrusted to us who wait for our impartial, non-judgmental behavior in order to become individuals and who want to create their own free future without worry. Remember, the basis of our experiences are the mistakes we make. Let's not diminish the truth of our experiences by telling them frequently.

THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DREAMS AND REALITY IS KNOWING ONESELF WELL, PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR THEIR DREAMS, THE WAY OF EVALUATING THE DAY AND ITS ORIGINALITY. WHEN ALL THESE FACTS COME TOGETHER, SELECTING A SUCCESSFUL PROFESSION MAY BE EASIER.
