BAD ODOR

Why Does Bad Breath Occur?

Bad breath can occur for many reasons. While bad breath can be caused by systemic problems such as tonsillitis, lung inflammation, sinusitis, diabetes, stomach and intestinal diseases, kidney failure, liver and metabolic disorders, bad breath largely originates from inside the mouth.

Causes What are they and how can they be prevented?

Bad breath caused by the gas of the waste material of dead bacteria called volatile sulfur may indicate an oral infection or an advanced gum disease, as well as bacteria settled in food waste that has been left in the mouth for more than a few hours. It could be the cause of the smell. As can be understood, many reasons can cause bad breath. Therefore, first of all, it should be diagnosed why the smell occurs.

Treatment can be done after a sound diagnosis is made. If it is understood that the cause of the odor is due to problems in the mouth, appropriate intervention is made in the clinic. These may be the treatment of caries, the treatment of gum diseases if there are any, or the treatment of all caries in the mouth by removing impacted and semi-buried wisdom teeth. However, in addition to all these, brushing the teeth for 3 minutes after each meal, keeping the toothbrush used in a dry and clean environment, and brushing the surface of the tongue, where bacteria easily settle due to its structure, are of great importance in preventing odor. It should not be forgotten that mints, mouth sprays and mouthwashes are temporary (5-7 minutes) applications that do not permanently solve bad breath.
