The bad thing is that I can't find the answer. While I was trying to move up in my job, which I started with the help of a family friend after barely graduating from university, I was stuck where I was. At work, my friends often complain that I don't listen to them when they talk. Even though I say “no, I was listening” every time, I know that this is not true and my attention is shifting elsewhere. So much so that I couldn't meet a friend alone. I definitely call someone else so it won't be obvious that I'm bored...
A few days ago, I received a warning from my manager because of an unfinished project. Each time, I experience disappointments in jobs that are eagerly accepted and started, with a mysterious outcome. While things are going like this, my wife and I are experiencing problems in our five-month marriage. I didn't expect the consequences of my hasty marriage decision to be so early and negative. Actually, the problem is always the same: "I'm bored"... Going to work at the same time every day, coming home from work, eating dinner, worrying about the day's events, not making the bills due... How can I bear all this? I have been drinking alcohol almost every day for the last year. My efforts to comfort myself, which seemed innocent at first, are now getting in the way. There is a problem somewhere, help is needed...
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a psychiatric disorder that we have frequently mentioned, diagnosed, and wondered about by the society in recent years. As the name suggests, the disorder is based on attention deficit and hyperactivity. However, it may also be accompanied by impulsive behavior that the person exhibits without thinking about the consequences. Symptoms begin in childhood and continue into adulthood. Over the years, hyperactivity may decrease while attention deficit continues. While boys are diagnosed more frequently due to hyperactivity, the course of the disorder in girls is based on attention deficit. In children with symptoms, a picture such as a decrease in academic success, reluctance to tasks that require attention, appearing not to listen, not being able to finish the job started, making simple mistakes, being forgetful and therefore losing things frequently occurs. Most of the time, parents find that even though the child has all these complaints, the child can easily watch television. They say that he can watch a program he likes and focus. The important thing here is to understand that the child can direct his attention due to motivation. Due to impulsivity, people may engage in activities that may be physically dangerous, have difficulty waiting in line, and have arguments with friends and family. These children, who grow up with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder unnoticed and without appropriate treatment, acquire some basic beliefs about themselves when they reach adulthood, compared to individuals who do not have this disorder. They may become more rejected and undesirable than others, and they may acquire the belief that they are "defective" about themselves. Attention deficit has become more prominent than hyperactivity. Emotional relationships in adulthood may be negatively affected due to the inadequate way individuals recognize and regulate their emotions during the course of the disease.
Making sudden decisions, getting married in a short time, and getting divorced in a short time is a picture we see in these patients. Infidelity in marriages, inability to fulfill duties and responsibilities, and lack of discipline are important reasons for divorce. Unfortunately, patients who have progressed into adulthood and have not been treated come to us with additional psychiatric diseases. In other words, other psychiatric disorders such as alcohol-substance use disorder, pathological gambling, internet addiction, depression or panic disorder are added to the picture. Therefore, the course of treatment changes. What is important here is how early the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is made and how early its treatment is started. It is such a disorder that it does not follow the same pattern in every patient and can cause serious adaptation problems to life. It is essential to use appropriate drug treatments in its treatment. In addition, the application of cognitive behavioral therapy will positively affect the course. The point that should not be forgotten is that early diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will be lifesaving...
