Abdominoplasty & Liposuction & Postbariatric

The abdominal skin may sag due to reasons such as weight gain or loss and childbirth. For similar reasons, the abdominal muscles relax and loosening between the abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) may occur. Especially after pregnancy, enlargement of the lower abdominal skin, loosening of the abdominal muscles, and skin cracks are common. In such cases, the abdomen does not become flat even with exercise. After losing weight, the abdomen may still appear protruding.

In tummy tuck surgery, the skin is removed along with the lower abdominal fat tissue. Meanwhile, loose abdominal muscles are repaired and tightened. Thus, the abdomen becomes flat. The slimness of the waist appears again. If there is belly button sagging during surgery, the location of the belly button can be changed. It is not necessary to change the location of the belly button in all tummy tuck surgeries. Stretching surgery performed up to the belly button is called mini tummy tuck (mini abdominoplasty). The scar remains under the abdomen, inside the underwear. When the abdomen is considered as a whole, liposuction can also be performed for the desired result

The duration of the surgery may vary depending on the choice of surgery and the patient's condition. One night hospital stay after the surgery is sufficient. It is necessary to wear a corset for 2-4 weeks after the surgery. It may be necessary to take a break from heavy work and sports for 1-3 months depending on the patient's condition.

Liposuction

Liposuction surgery is also known as fat removal or liposuction. Although it is popularly known as a weight loss method, it is not actually a weight loss method. It enables the removal of regional fat, where weight loss and sports methods are insufficient.

It is the process of absorbing regional fat tissue through small holes opened in the skin with the help of long cannulas (swelling with a hole in the middle). During weight gain, existing fat cells in the body expand. Since fat cells are removed after liposuction, there will not be much expansion in the same area, even if weight is gained. Instead, enlargement occurs in other areas.

The most suitable patients for liposuction are those with regional fat that disrupts body proportions. The most common areas are; waist circumference, upper belly, inner legs, under the chin (jowl area), and in men, the breast area. Liposuction surgery is a surgery in which fat tissue is reduced. Does not remove excess skin, cellulite appears. It does not eliminate wrinkles and stretch marks.

Today, many types of liposuction have been developed. Mechanical, laser and ultrasonic liposuction methods are available. The method option may vary depending on the patient's needs. Surgery time varies depending on the region and the amount of fat to be removed. It is necessary to wear a corset for 2-4 weeks after the surgery.
It may take up to 1 month for the edema to subside.

Postbariatric

Obesity is one of the most important problems of today. Bariatric surgery (obesity surgery) is frequently performed by general surgeons. After surgery, patients lose excessive amounts of weight. Unfortunately, the skin cannot adapt to the situation at the same rate. There may be sagging in the arms, chest, abdomen and inner legs.

In postbariatric patients, sagging occurs in many areas. However, it is not possible to correct every area at the same time. Prolonged surgery duration increases the risk of complications (unwanted side disease). For this reason, surgeries are planned in sessions.

Sagging in the inner areas of the arm skin prevents the patient from dressing as he wishes. Excess tissue that shakes with arm movements disturbs the patient. Arm lift surgery is performed by removing excess skin tissue on the inside of the arm. The scar is hidden on the inner side of the upper arm. This scar is not visible from the front or back. It is necessary to use a corset or bandage for 2-4 months after arm lift surgery.

Sagging in the inner leg is a serious problem for patients who lose weight. Skin contact during walking causes pain and redness. Patients also want to undergo leg lift (thigh lift) surgery so that they can walk comfortably. In leg lift surgery, excess skin and fat tissue are removed from the inner thigh. Surgical scars remain on the edge of underwear and between the legs and cannot be seen from the front or back. A corset is worn for 1 month after the surgery.
Abdominoplasty and breast lift surgeries are also performed on patients who lose weight.
