Therapy

Today, we are faced with various stimuli as we continue our lives. While sometimes we react positively to these stimuli, we may react negatively to others. It depends on the personality structures of individuals, their social lives, the family environment in which they were raised, etc. It may vary in such cases. If we talk in the light of therapy, it is to listen and analyze neutrally the events that individuals experience in the future and the events that the current events arouse and affect the person. Of course, although there are many therapy models at this stage, the competence of the person performing the therapy in this field is also important at this stage. The most important purpose of the therapy process is to gain insight into the difficulties you are experiencing, to bring about changes in your thoughts and feelings, to determine the motivation you need to implement these changes and the appropriate ways for change.

In fact, all individuals want to be listened to and understood. . It is best for the therapist to listen to the individual and help the person make decisions about his own life, rather than intervening in his life or making decisions. It is not the therapist's job to act like justifying, criticizing, judging, etc. about the event the individual experienced. On the contrary, it is important to make evaluations by independently considering how he feels and how he reacts as a result of the event he experienced, and to help the client/patient by applying the therapy model he finds appropriate. It is useful to know that the therapist or psychologist does not have a magic wand because therapy requires a process and continuity. We should not ignore the impatience of individuals in this sense, the mood they experience can cause impatience in the person. However, one should not believe or trust the promises made by people who are not competent and have little knowledge of human psychopathology, taking advantage of this impatience. However, it is healthier for mental health professionals to provide therapy to the client/patient after going through the necessary training and supervision processes.

Our expectation from therapy is that therapy can be applied for a short time or a long time, depending on the subject you want to get support for and your personal situation. Therapist meetings are usually once a week It is held once, half an hour to forty-five minutes, but meeting intervals can be increased or extended according to personal needs and your therapist's guidance. The aim of the first meeting will be for the psychotherapist to get to know you and to decide on the most efficient treatment method. It is extremely important that you feel safe and understood during therapy meetings. Therefore, when choosing your therapist, it will be useful to decide which features will make you feel more comfortable.

Finally, let me clarify the issue by talking about therapy models. Therapy models vary depending on the schools in which the therapist works. Many therapy models, such as the most commonly used cognitive and behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, couple therapy, interpersonal therapy, art therapy, and play therapy, can be used to improve the individual's quality of life.
