It is the most common aesthetic operation in our country and is an attempt that aims to harmonize the patient's nose with the aesthetic proportion and shape of the face. Deformities and functions in the nose may be congenital or acquired (due to trauma or tumors). Thanks to rhinoplasty, the nose can be reduced or enlarged (such as collapsed, post-operative saddle noses), the tip can be changed (type surgery), the nose wings can be narrowed, the nasal dorsum, the nasal septum (middle pillar) can be corrected, the location can be changed, and the angles of the nose can be changed.
In the planning before nose plastic surgery, a nose suitable for that face is planned by taking into account the person's other facial formations, structure, angles and measurements, the images are discussed with the patient, a common idea is formed and then the operation is performed. In rhinoplasty, a plan and intervention is made according to the patient's needs. Sometimes just correcting the tip of the nose may be enough.
Patient age
Girls can have a nose aesthetic operation when they are 15-16 years old and boys are 16-18 years old. These are the ages when the nose takes its final form. Rhinoplasty can be performed at any age after passing these ages.
In case of congenital disorders, nose operations are also performed at earlier ages. For example, cleft lip-nose deformity.
Anesthesia
Although limited interventions are performed under local anesthesia, rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia (completely anesthetizing) for the comfort of the patient. is being done. The operation time is 1.5-2.5 hours for standard rhinoplasty. In patients with severe deformation, surgery may take 3-4 hours. The patient usually stays in the hospital for one night after the operation.
Post-operation
Before the patient wakes up during the operation, if necessary, tampons are applied inside the nose and bandages and splints are applied to the outside of the nose. The tampon remains for 1-2 days, the splint remains for 7 days.
Patients are seen three times after the operation: tampon removal, splint removal-bandage application (7th day) and bandage removal (14th day). Afterwards, 2-month, 6-month and 1-year checks are performed.
Patients can work sitting after 24 hours. From the third day onwards They can go to work. The nose should be protected from trauma for approximately 3-4 weeks. There is no harm in using contact lenses after the operation. Lightweight glasses can be used by attaching them to the forehead with tape. The nose remains edematous (swollen) for a while after the plaster splint is removed. Then, it gradually regains its real formation.
Dressing is done in the hospital or clinic.
