There are different types of vaginismus that can occur as a result of different reasons. Vaginismus, by definition, is a very different concept from frigidity.
What are the Types of Vaginismus?
Primary Vaginismus
Once It is a situation where sexual intercourse cannot take place even if it is not possible. The majority of vaginismus patients have primary vaginismus.
All patients with primary vaginismus are still virgins. Most (more than 90%) of vaginismus patients are of the primary vaginismus type.
Secondary Vaginismus (Secondary vaginismus)
A previously experienced sexual intercourse was possible. It is a condition of vaginismus that develops after genital trauma (such as an eventful birth, miscarriage, abortion, a rude gynecological examination, exposure to harassment or rape).
The person who applied to us has vaginismus. The majority of women with the problem have never had intercourse, meaning they are still virgins (Primary vaginismus type). However, while some women were able to have sexual intercourse before, they later faced the situation of not being able to have sexual intercourse (secondary type of vaginismus).
Aparoni
Due to some obstacles. It is the individual's inability to have sexual intercourse. Vaginismus is also a type of apareunia.
Dyspareunia (Painful penetration, dyspareunia)
It is 'feeling pain or suffering during sexual intercourse'. Painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia) may be due to vaginismus or may occur as a result of some physical reasons.
Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome (VVS)
In the lower part of the hymen It is a syndrome related to the emergence of complaints such as vaginismus, dyspareunia and anorgasmia (inability to orgasm) as a result of extreme sensitivity and sensitivity. In women, it mostly causes dyspareunia complaints such as pain, burning and stinging at the entrance of the vagina during sexual intercourse.
According to the patient's own statement, it is a suspicious procedure performed after sexual intercourse is extremely painful or does not occur at all. After gynecological examination, observing the red and edematous area at the entrance of the vagina, that area is opened by touching it with a cotton-tipped swab. As a result of its sensitivity to blood, Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome (VVS) can be diagnosed with certainty.
The exact cause of vulvar vestibulitis is not yet known. In treatment, removal of this area with a simple surgical operation can completely eliminate the problem (partial hymectomy surgery). These operations, which are generally performed under local or sometimes general anesthesia, are effective in solving the problem in a period of 10-15 minutes.
The first evaluation by the gynecologist is important!
First With the gynecologist's evaluation made during the interview, a definitive diagnosis can be made, types of vaginismus can be revealed and a road map for treatment is created. Therefore, gynecological evaluation before vaginismus treatment is of great importance.
