Dear readers, I attach great importance to the cycle you see in the figure as it raises awareness in the treatment of panic attacks. Generally, we do not realize the unconscious thought that triggers a panic attack. For example, if we have an existence that considers carrying excessive workload or spiritual burden as very normal, unconscious thoughts such as a job we cannot complete or "I have to succeed under all circumstances" stimulate us, and during the stimulation, the muscles contract and the breath is held. As a result of holding the breath, the balance of oxygen, carbon dioxide and calcium is disrupted. All of these cause symptoms such as numbness, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and “strangeness or alienation.” It's actually a psychological problem. It turns into a physiological problem by causing calcium imbalance. Suddenly, the person who did not realize the beginning of the event falls into a great panic and seeks help in a panic with fears such as death or going crazy.
In panic attack therapy, we intervene to stop and break this cycle in many parts. While changing challenging beliefs and thoughts in our minds and replacing them with constructive and positive thoughts prevents triggers, symptoms such as numbness, shortness of breath, palpitations, etc. can be stopped before they start, thanks to breathing control and relaxation. The mindfulness technique works at every stage of the cycle. Thanks to mindfulness, a person frees his attention from the deadlock of distressing and fearful expectations. At the end of 2-3 sessions, the person is no longer affected by these beliefs and thoughts and can manage his breathing easily. The problem can be completely resolved with life changes and softening of personality structure.
