First of all, after each orthodontic treatment, a process called reinforcement treatment is started. As the name suggests, this process is carried out to preserve the final state. It is a process that tries to protect the teeth and jaws in their current position, not to straighten them.
It can be applied using fixed or mobile appliances, depending on the requirements of the treatment. Patient cooperation is extremely important, especially in removable appliances, as the effect of the treatment directly depends on the use of the patient. The fact that patients do not use the given appliances properly or do not come to their appointments regularly will increase the risk of encountering problems. Especially in the adult patient group, people with crowding or closing disorders may experience deformities such as abrasions or fractures in the teeth due to faulty contacts over many years. These conditions are not noticed when the teeth are on top of each other and do not cause discomfort. However, after the orthodontic treatment process, when all the teeth come to the correct positions, all these deformities in the teeth occur. For this reason, patients should be ready for the supportive aesthetic treatments that should be done at the end of orthodontic treatment in such cases. The treatments that can be done in these cases are a wide range of treatments, from small fillings to laminated porcelain restorations or simply bleaching. Within the scope of aesthetic dentistry applications, it may sometimes include gingivectomy or additional treatments.
