Glioma

We can divide brain tumors into two as benign tumors and malignant tumors.

Benign Brain Tumor (Meningioma)

Meningioma is the most common benign type of brain tumors. The most important symptom is persistent headaches. Depending on the location of the tumor, symptoms such as weakness in the arms or legs, speech impairment, and epileptic seizures may also occur. There is no guarantee that every person who suffers from headache will have a brain tumor, but if they have long-term headaches, it is useful to have a brain MRI examination just in case. The types and locations of memengiomas can be very different. They grow slowly. The treatment option is decided according to their type, location and size. Surgical treatment is mostly applied. We can perform follow-up and not perform surgery on very small tumors that we think do not harm the patient.

Benign Brain Tumor Symptoms

The first symptom of memengiomas is severe headaches that do not go away. In addition, epileptic seizures, sometimes weakness in the arms and legs, and speech disorders are among the symptoms of meningioma.

Benign Brain Tumor Treatment

Small tumors that do not harm the patient. It can be kept under observation without surgery, but mostly the treatment for benign brain tumors is surgery. During the surgical operation, mostly all tumors are removed. Before the surgery, imaging methods are performed to see where the tumor is fed and from which vessels it branches.

Malignant Brain Tumor

Malignant brain tumors are determined by the brain's own bad tumors and the brain. We can divide it into two: tumors that spread from another location. Tumors that spread to the brain from another place are called metastases.

Malignant Brain Tumor Symptoms

Severe headaches, nausea and vomiting, loss of consciousness, epileptic seizures, symptoms can occur in the affected area. Accordingly, we can count paralysis in the arm or leg among the symptoms of malignant brain tumors. Symptoms of malignant brain tumors develop very quickly, unlike benign ones. It can manifest itself even in a few days.

The Brain's Own Bad Tumors

When we talk about the brain's own bad tumors The first thing that comes to mind is glioblastoma multiforme. There is no definitive treatment for this tumor under today's conditions. Unfortunately, there is no high success rate in surgical treatment. Advanced stage tumors spread very quickly. The brain's own bad tumors do not spread to another part of the body.

Metastasis

They are tumors that usually spread to the brain from cancerous organs such as lung, breast, prostate, stomach, intestine and kidney. . It is also possible to say that lung cancer usually causes symptoms after it spreads to the brain. Severe headaches, nausea and vomiting, balance and coordination disorders, weakness in the arm or leg can be counted among the symptoms of metastasis.
