Ovulation problems

Irregular or absent ovulation can be recognized by the body temperature remaining relatively constant throughout the month and is due to one or two factors, below. These factors are explained:

Pituitary disorders; It occurs when this gland does not secrete the right amount of hormones.

Polycystic ovaries; It forms small cysts and prevents ovulation.

Inadequate luteal phase; Due to progesterone deficiency, it causes the uterine wall to fail to develop thick enough to hold the fetus.

Early menopause is the end of menstrual periods.

The solution to many of these problems is to give hormone therapy. This treatment ensures balance in the hormone levels produced by the body.

Correction of ovulation

If ovulation occurs normally, there may be difficulties in the sperm reaching the egg or the fertilized egg cannot settle in the uterus. Problems related to this can be corrected with medication or surgery.

Improving the passage of sperm

Sometimes the passage of sperm through the cervix may be difficult due to the following problems:

Infections: sperm cannot pass easily in the reproductive organs. prevents it from moving. Antibiotic treatment can solve this problem.

Low cervical mucus: may prevent the passage of sperm. Estrogen pills or insemination (leaving sperm directly into the uterine cavity) can be used to treat this condition.

Antibody problems: Antibodies in the cervix may react to the sperm. IVF can be used to solve this problem.

Many different factors can damage the fallopian tubes and prevent sperm from passing through them.

Adhesives. Adhesions: Depending on the disease or infection, adhesions may occur and the fallopian tubes may be completely blocked. If the tubes are not damaged so badly that they cannot be repaired, they can be corrected surgically. If there is fluid accumulation in the tubes, it is necessary to remove the tubes.

Mucus plug: may cause clogging of the tube. It can be opened by sending a small catheter.

Tubal sterilization: (tying the tubes) can be opened again with microsurgical methods. The passage of sperm is ensured.

Correction of implantation in the uterus

In some cases, an egg cannot implant in the uterus.

For example, intrauterine adhesions or septum (curtain) may prevent implantation in the uterus. and may cause miscarriage. These problems can often be corrected by hysteroscopy.

Myomas (which are non-carcinogenic growths of smooth muscle cells) occur in and around the uterus. Myomas are usually removed through a surgical procedure called myomectomy. It can be done abdominally or by hysteroscopy. Sometimes medication can be used to reduce their size before surgery.

Treatment of endometriosis

Endometriosis is the appearance of the inner wall of the uterus in other parts of the reproductive system, such as the ovaries and uterine ligaments. It affects these organs and causes reproductive problems. Laparoscopic surgeries, hormone therapy, or both may be used to treat this condition.

Aiding fertility

Intrauterine insemination

Intrauterine insemination can be applied in cases of low sperm count, thin uterine wall, unexplained infertility, lack of cervical secretion or cervical antibody problems (IUI). ). Using a thin catheter, the sperm is placed into the uterus, which is connected to the cervix. IUI is often applied together with hormone therapy that increases egg production.

Sperm donation

If there is a problem due to low quality or limited sperm, the use of donor sperm may be considered. However, this practice is not available in Turkey. It is also not legal, so it is not implemented. In this method, the sperm taken from the donor is infused into the woman. It is used in . Sperm can be obtained from a commercial sperm bank.
