Nose; It is a dynamic functional organ covered with skin, muscle and ligaments on a cartilage and bone skeleton. In addition to its specific tasks such as breathing and smelling, it has a structural aesthetic and visual value. The nasal cavity is divided into two parts in the middle by a cartilage structure called the septum. Nasal bones and nasal cartilages form the roof of these compartments. The nose is an important part of the aesthetic identity of the person in the middle of the face. The nose is an important determinant of the aesthetic lines of the face, both from the front and in profile view. The purpose of rhinoplasty; is to create a healthy breathing nose that looks natural in harmony with the facial aesthetic lines.
Beauty is a relative concept. The shape, length and structure of the human face are highly variable. The important thing is the harmony of these variable structures that make the face look beautiful. No two noses are ever alike. That's why there is no standard beautiful nose size. With rhinoplasty, it is aimed to obtain a harmonious nose that is suitable for the person's own face, compatible with his eyes and lips. Another important situation is; The expectation of the person to be operated on and the patient-doctor compatibility. Determining the curved areas in the nose and explaining how to make a correction to the patient is a factor that increases patient-surgeon compliance.
There are 2 basic surgical approaches in rhinoplasty, open and closed technique. The open technique is made by making an incision at the tip of the nose, in the area we call columella. Which technique will be used depends on the condition and area of the curvature in the nose, whether or not there is revision surgery, and the surgeon's experience and preference.
Rinoplasty generally takes between 1.5-3 hours. If there is a history of revision, that is, a previous nasal surgery, the procedure may take approximately 1 hour longer. Since cartilage and bone structures are reshaped in the surgery, plaster and corrugated silicone pads are placed in the nose outside the nose after the surgery. Tampons in 3-5 days, plaster in 7-10. day is removed. Swelling and partial bruising on the nose and around it disappear significantly within 2 weeks. The nose takes its final shape in 6-12 months.
Those who have had previous nose surgery can also have rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a reshaping surgery. Special sewing for this techniques and cartilage parts are required. Ear and rib cartilage can be removed in revision surgeries if sufficient cartilage is not found.
