Every patient's situation is different, but the recovery process after dental implant surgery varies depending on how many implants were made and whether our patients follow the recommendations given. Placing an implant into the bone in the recipient area is an approximately 15-minute operation under local anesthesia, and our patients often do not need painkillers after the 2nd or 3rd day. It is very important to pay attention to your oral health after your implant is placed. In order for your implant to fuse successfully with your jawbone, your oral hygiene must be good and the oral environment must be clean. Do not hesitate to brush your teeth after the operation. After the operation, get a very soft-bristled toothbrush and gently clean the wound area with this toothbrush. Unless you apply excessive force, you cannot damage the stitches and the wound area, but if you do not brush your teeth and the wound area for a week or ten days, you may cause an infection! You can use painkillers as long as the pain continues.
-
A slight swelling and edema in your gums and cheek in the implant area. To reduce swelling as much as possible, try to keep your head elevated and rest with as little movement as possible. Apply ice pads continuously or as often as possible for the first 48 hours.
-
Stinging at the implant site. The painkillers and edema-reducing medications used will help you eliminate this complaint.
-
Slight bleeding. To prevent this complaint, compresses applied to the wound area with sterile gauze will give you great relief.
-
Sometimes fatigue and resentment. During this period, great attention should be paid to nutrition and tiring activities and tiring work tempo should be avoided.
-
If swelling, discomfort or any other problem worsens after surgery, contact your doctor. Pay attention to the use of painkillers, antibiotics and antibacterial mouthwashes. Sometimes our patients stop taking medications without consulting their doctor because they do not have many complaints. This can lead to infection, bone loss around the implant, and loss of the implant. It may cause ruptures.
-
After each stage of the surgery, you should eat soft foods until the surgical area heals. Usually, your surgeon will use stitches that do not dissolve on their own. Your stitches need to be removed between 7-10 times. Forgotten stitches can sometimes lead to infection.
