One of the areas that enable the formation of sociometry and psychodrama group therapy is Spontaneity Theatre, the other is based on observations and studies with children. Jacob Levi Moreno, the founder of psychodrama group therapy, initially dealt with philosophy. Then he studied medicine, and then he began to watch children play daily. He focused on children's high spontaneity and creativity, unlike adults. He created Psychodrama group psychotherapy by realizing how the aspects that existed at the beginning of life became atrophied afterwards and how this structure, which people could not use, was reflected in their lives.
Child Psychodrama is the application of Psychodrama with children. Child psychodrama is a therapeutic process in which children stage the difficulties they experience in daily life, important events and their feelings, thoughts and beliefs, and in this way change is achieved. It has different aspects than studies conducted with adults. However, it includes action, spontaneity, creativity, role theory and sociometry, which are the basis of psychodrama. We can list its different aspects as being within a certain age range, the number of groups, the layout of the group room, the number of leaders in the group's work, and the situations that should be taken into consideration when applying psychodrama techniques.
Child psychodrama requires at least 3 children between the ages of 6 and 11. It is applied in groups of up to 6 people, accompanied by two therapists.
Child psychodrama is performed once a week or every fifteen days for one hour and fifteen minutes.
WHY CHILD PSYCHODRAMA?
To strengthen the healthy structure in children and recreate the healthy structure they need with child psychodrama. To enable them to know their emotions and themselves. To make it easier to get to know oneself and another person by increasing one's role repertoire. Revealing one's potential through action. It is applied because it is a cure for childhood fears, obsessions, anger, sibling jealousy, and behavioral problems.
Unlike us adults, their existing spontaneity and creativity allow them to express themselves in group work and cope with the difficulties they have faced or will face. It is an important factor in mileage. In child psychodrama, when action is used and not prevented, it is possible to obtain a lot of information about the child.
In child psychodrama, work is also carried out with the parents of children who participate in group work. Many methods of working with children support the need for intervention with families. This also applies to child psychodrama. In intervention to families, remedial interventions are discussed in parent groups in accordance with the family's approaches, attitudes and the child's needs.
