Intermittent Fasting (IF) Intermittent Fasting Diet

The most important feature of this type of diet is the time period in which the food is consumed. The time you consume is more important than the food you consume. The main purpose of the intermittent fasting diet is to keep you hungry for certain periods of the day. It helps you accelerate your fat burning by starving yourself.

I can hear you asking how fasting speeds up our fat burning, so let me give you the answer right away and satisfy your curiosity. Our body needs energy for every physical activity it performs. It provides this energy from the food we consume, that is, the calories we take. However, people use the tanks when they are hungry. When the body is starved, it first starts to use the glucose storage in the liver. However, since this tank is very small, it runs out in about 4 hours. When individuals continue not to consume food, the energy needed is provided from fats. At this point, the intermittent fasting diet becomes important.

There are 3 types of intermittent fasting diets.

Alternate Day Method: involves fasting for 24 hours on any day of the week.

5/2 Method: 500-600 kcal of energy is consumed on 2 non-consecutive days of the week and normal nutrition is continued for the remaining 5 days.

16/8 Method: You fast for 16 hours along with sleep and consume food in the remaining 8 hours.

If you ask me, I mostly use the 16/8 method with my clients. Because it seems the most applicable. For example, a good breakfast (egg or oatmeal) at 12:00 noon, a nice snack (milk + fruit, almonds, walnuts + milk) between 15.00-16.00, and a satisfying dinner (vegetable meal + yoghurt, tuna) between 18.00-19.00. such as fish salad + yoghurt) (amounts may vary between people. I just gave an example here to help you visualize. )

This diet consists of water, herbal tea, coffee or tea without sugar and milk during the fasting period. It allows consumption.

Apart from this, it is not recommended for diabetics, blood pressure patients, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with a history of eating disorders to follow this diet.
