Preventive Rhinoplasty

It is one of the most popular subjects in rhinoplasty in recent years. This technique is not suitable for all patients who want rhinoplasty. It is suitable for people whose nose looks beautiful from the front but arched from the side. Preventive rhinoplasty can be applied to approximately 70-80 percent of people who have not had nose surgery before. Additionally, if there are problems causing nasal congestion, they are corrected with aesthetic nose surgery.

In the classical technique, the nasal bridge is removed. The nasal bones are narrowed from the side and the nasal dorsum is reshaped. In the let down technique, the beautiful nasal dorsum is not distorted at all, sufficient bone and cartilage strips are removed from the base, the nasal dorsum is lowered one floor like an elevator, and the side-arched appearance is corrected.

In preventive rhinoplasty surgery, not only the nasal dorsum is protected. Other important protected structures are briefly as follows:

--The periconrium of the nasal tip and nasal dorsum cartilages are protected by working under the membrane. There is less nasal shine and tissue damage. The skin does not atrophy

--Since the need for grafts is low in preventive rhinoplasty, the cartilage in the nose, which we call septum, is largely preserved. Thus, the cartilage need for possible revisions is met from the septum. There is no need to take cartilage from the rib or ear.

-- More mobile and soft nose tips are obtained by preserving the pitanguy ligament, which makes the nose tip soft and mobile.

--Nasal muscles are worked under the membrane. Since it is not damaged, the respiratory functions of the nose are well preserved.
-- The respiratory functions of the nose are not damaged by protecting the scroll ligament that opens the internal valve area.
-- The nasal tip numbness is less by protecting the vascular nerve package passing through the tip of the nose.
