A Global Trauma- Pandemic

Recently, we have been facing a global problem - the pandemic. The whole world is experiencing the same things
and is worried. It doesn't matter where you are from, where you live, who you are, or your economic situation. A period where everything is reset...
In my opinion, we are going through a period where we forget what we know, the balance of power changes, and it will be the beginning of a new era
. I don't say it to be scary; We can also see this
period as a period of purification and growth.
It is obvious that the Earth, which we have despised for years, has been physically purified in these days we live in; We also need to purify and adapt internally; It can help us get out of this difficult period
profitably.

Trauma and Pandemic
We call trauma to life events that occur unexpectedly, suddenly, are challenging and deeply affect
life. From this perspective, Pandemic; It is a global trauma. But here,
there is no event that has happened and ended, so we can treat the pandemic as an 'ongoing global trauma'
for now.
The most important criterion of trauma is that the person experiences it as trauma and
br /> is its meaning. Because this situation varies from person to person. Not everyone may
experience the same thing as trauma.

In order to get out of the influence of what we perceive as trauma, we must first accept our emotions that lead to
negative reactions. Reactions to trauma are "normal reactions to an abnormal situation"; For a while, these reactions are expected and compatible with life.

On the other hand, although it is a global trauma, as with other traumas, everyone's
experience and meaning of trauma is different. Therefore, the effects after the traumatic
process has passed may be different from each other.

We can see post-traumatic reactions in 3 different ways.
1.After a negative life event; fearful, anxious, depressed or in shock,
frozen, out of touch with the moment, etc. somehow traumatized; post-traumatic stress disorder
may be experienced.
People experiencing PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) may experience the following.
Overstimulation, being easily startled, disturbing feelings about the event. Symptoms such as frequent recurrence of memories and nightmares, insomnia, increased level of anxiety and anger, inability to return to our daily lives, inability to think about the future may be observed.
2. By maintaining our endurance, showing resistance, staying in balance and in our current order. We can
continue. After trauma, we can continue life normally, where we left off.
3. After trauma, we can experience positive psychological changes and emerge stronger, growing, and gaining new
perspectives. This is called traumatic growth.
Traumatic growth; It is the fact that the traumatic event has made the person stronger than before and has experienced radical, clear, positive changes.

Whatever is in our infrastructure is actually what emerges. While we are in our normal routine, our
symptoms and problems that already give signals may come to light.
Our childhood traumas (neglect, abuse, etc.), our distorted perceptions of ourselves
(I am inadequate, worthless, etc.), our beliefs. and our values, our upbringing, our philosophy of looking at life
are the basic factors that determine our response to trauma.

Yes, some of us emerge stronger from trauma. When we look at people
who will experience post-traumatic growth, we can observe the following:
o They question the things they worry about in life and make them their main concern.
o They question their life goals, lifestyles and raise awareness.
o They are willing to change. and they are not afraid to stretch.
o They are open to new ideas.
o They abandon themselves to the flow of life.
o They stay in the moment and in the flow.
o They notice and feel their emotions; They do not ignore them.
o They see and meet their needs or allow others to meet them.
o They establish bonds of love and trust.

As can be seen, after a negative life event, positive psychological changes and
It is also possible to experience gains. Gaining a new perspective, gaining personal power, gaining existential value, changing priorities. We are faced with a negative life event. The first thing is to find out what the situation
has caused. Our negative feelings and thoughts, the threat we perceive, the break in our routine life; You should try to accept and understand
without denying, suppressing, or ignoring. This way, you will be freed from the biggest obstacle to traumatic growth
. After the rupture, the questioning phase
begins to restructure. You quickly reconsider
everything you believe in, trust in, and defend. You begin to sort out the rotten beliefs in your philosophy of life (success, power, ambition, closeness, relationships,
perception of the world...). At this stage, extra power and energy is spent to reconstruct the destroyed life. New ones come in addition to the characteristics, beliefs and skills that are useful, healthy and functional in your own structure. In a way, you will be
upgraded or updated.
If, when the pandemic is over, you have clearly emerged with a more solid structure than before, it means that you have gone through this process profitably and experienced a traumatic growth.
That's right. I hope it will be…
With love
