What is Acceptance?
Contrary to popular belief, acceptance does not mean approving the situation we are in, exposing and tolerating it, supporting or participating in it. What we actually call acceptance is;
Adapting to the conditions we cannot change,
Seeing them as they are, not the way we want to see them,
Continuing life with what we have, not with the things we want to have,

It means leaving the results aside and focusing on the reality of the process we are in,
Being able to continue with challenging things instead of trying to suppress and fight them,
Providing the management to continue the actions.
How Can I Visualize Acceptance?
To explain it with a metaphor; It makes us feel uncomfortable when an unwanted guest rings the bell. Even if we want to ignore it, it will not be possible for us not to hear the sound of the bell. Receiving that guest may be seen in our minds as his arrival and never leaving again. This is where acceptance comes into play. Even though we do not want the guest, the sound of the bell is very disturbing. Opening the door will silence the sound of the bell. We don't have to love a guest very much to invite him in. Just giving him a coffee and passing the time and letting him go is one of the pictures that best describes acceptance. It should not be forgotten that no guest is permanent forever...
Are there things that you find difficult to accept?
Most people spend their days trying to get used to the situation by experiencing many emotions throughout their lives. Getting used to some of these is a matter of choice. At this point, not many problems arise. However, there are also things we are obliged to do. The things we cannot change no matter what we do, how we act, how we think. We generally show escape behavior when we have a choice against situations that force us. This situation can often be considered functional. However, accepting what we cannot change and what we have to do brings about certain blockages in our lives.
What Should I Do When I Have Difficulty?
As with every problem, the first step is to realize that there is a problem. Treatment begins from the moment the application is made.
In our society, 'Standing Upright' ' concept allows this problem to be normalized and glorified. However, in this process, people gradually move away from the picture they want to be in throughout their lives. The important thing is to recognize the problem and evaluate the issue from a professional perspective. You can consult mental health professionals when you feel stuck.
