While helping the child in choosing a career, the parent should help the child determine the right goal by helping him find answers to some questions. What is your purpose in choosing a career? How do you want to be remembered in the future? The child makes the right answers and decisions with the help of his parent. If you determine your route in your life's journey, you will reach your goal. “Do you have a goal?” It is just one of the questions that can raise awareness. (from my book, p. 138, An Advice for Every Day in Child Education - HAYY Kitap)
We should not have too many expectations about our children. We should motivate him to do his best and choose the right career, but we should not put pressure. We must believe that the child will do his best. (from my book, p. 139, An Advice for Every Day in Child Education - HAYY Kitap)
Parents understand that the basis of success and happiness is setting goals; One should know that aimlessness will first bring laziness, then failure and unhappiness. The most important reason that pushes young people to aimlessness is; It is forcing him to choose a profession that does not suit his interests and abilities.
The parent should encourage the young person.
What the child feels should be taken into consideration.
Children should be given the right to choose from an early age. The child discovers himself by exercising his right to choose, and the child growing up in this way will be able to choose the right profession.
The issue is not just about choosing a profession. Thus, the child's personality is strengthened. The child who chooses his profession correctly; It will benefit you at many points, from the right life choice to the right career planning and choosing the right spouse.
The young person's decisions should not be interfered with too much. A young person whose decisions are constantly interfered with will have trouble making decisions throughout his life and will not be able to take responsibility for the choices he makes.
A child who studies in a profession he does not want cannot be successful neither academically nor professionally, even if he wants to.
Parents should not try to live their dreams that they cannot realize through the child. The child will not live this life for you.
The young person should write about the profession he/she wants to pursue.
Before the selection process, The child should be brought together with people who practice the profession he/she is considering choosing.
The child should be shown around the school he/she is considering choosing before choosing it. It is very dangerous to say that if you write that your points will be wasted. The life of a young person who chooses a profession he does not like in order not to waste his points "MAY BE WASTE"
Choosing a profession is not a decision to be left to the last moment and made hastily. The family should guide the child well at this point.
Parents should prevent the student who cannot get enough points for the department he wants to study from thinking that he will enroll in the department where my score is sufficient and not be left out.
There should be limits in your child's life
Comparisons should be avoided when talking to the child about career choice.
The child needs to hear motivating sentences from you.
Avoiding conflict with the child during this period, establishing healthy communication with him, knowing his limits well, focusing on his strengths, mutually sharing concerns; It allows parent and child to understand each other better. The child should be supported in career planning and career selection, taking into account his/her personality characteristics. This approach will provide comfort to both the child and the family during the exam selection process.
