Dry Needling

Dry needling treatment method is used in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal diseases and the pain and movement limitations caused by these diseases. Acupuncture needles or thin injection needles are used in the treatment and these needles do not contain medication. Hardening in the muscle is attempted to be eliminated by utilizing the mechanical effect of the needle.

How is the dry needling treatment method performed and in which diseases is it applied?

In case of muscle stiffness, muscle spasm and trigger points occur; These are popularly described as kulunç. In dry needling, a needle is inserted into these needles and waited for a few seconds; In this way, the aim is to resolve the spasm and relax the trigger points.

The diseases for which dry needling treatment can be used can be listed as follows:

Depending on the affectedness of the muscles, single needle application can be performed or multiple needle applications can be performed.

Although acupuncture needles are used in treatment, this method is different from acupuncture application. The needles are inserted directly into the muscle that is the trigger point, determined as a result of the examination; The location of the application may vary depending on the patient and the condition of his disease. There are no standard application points as in acupuncture application. Since it is a drug-free application, side effects such as allergies or drug interactions do not occur.

What should be the frequency and number of sessions of dry needling treatment?

Usually per week 1-2 sessions of application are performed. The total number of sessions is generally 3-5 sessions and is evaluated according to the patient's disease and recovery period. While 1-3 sessions are sufficient for some patients, 8-10 sessions can rarely be performed in some patients, depending on the severity and condition of the disease.
