Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

With aging, the skin loses its elasticity or after gaining and losing excessive weight, sagging may occur in the arm area. Arm lift surgery can be successfully performed on patients with loose and sagging skin between the armpit and elbow. This surgery is performed to smooth and tighten the loosened, sagging arm skin. If there is fat accumulation along with skin sagging, fat suction can be performed successfully along with arm lift surgery.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and requires a duration of 2-3 hours. At the end of the surgery, a corset bandage will be applied to the arm area. This bandage should be used continuously for 4-6 weeks, depending on the progress of healing.

After the surgery, there may be swelling and bruising in the surgical area. Depending on the severity of bruising and swelling, the arm will regain a good appearance within 7 to 15 days. You may be able to do your daily work within a week or ten days, provided that it is not light, but it will take time for you to return to normal physically.

After the healing is completed, there will be a scar in the arm extending from the armpit to your elbow, which will not be visible when you stand in a normal position. This scar will be red and brown in the first 6 months. Depending on the scar development, the scar will turn into skin color within 1-2 years and will become in a position that will not bother you. What should not be forgotten here is that genetic factors play an important role in the quality of wound healing as well as good stitching of the wound.
