Among the most important reasons;

- Uvula (small tongue) being large or sagging
- Soft palate sagging downwards and widening with age
- Macroglassia (big tongue, large tongue)
- Tongue growth at the root
- Enlargement of tonsils and adenoids
- Curvature of the nasal bone, swollen nasal flesh
- Narrowing of the air passage in people with an allergic structure, etc….

3 – Snoring disrupts a person's sleep pattern. It causes much more harm to itself than it does to those around it or the people in the room. Snoring can start with simple snoring and progress to obstructive sleep apnea (stopping breathing during sleep, holding your breath).

4 – Although patients of all age groups (children, teenagers, middle and older ages) apply to our clinic regarding snoring and sleep apnea, naturally the first place is people of middle age and above, who are mostly overweight. (35 years - 50 years old). It is known that 20% of men and 5% of women between the ages of 5 and 30 snore. This rate increases to 60% in men and 40% in women in their 60s.

Snore It is 3 times more common in obese people than in thin people. Worldwide, snoring is 3-8 times more common in men than in women. The male-female ratio in applications to our clinic is 6/1.

6 – The biggest problem of our women regarding snoring is Their complaint is that men are not as understanding and tolerant as they are, and that they immediately take away their sleep opportunities, citing their intense work schedule.

Of course, for a young or middle-aged woman, this situation damages the image, is demoralizing and causes a loss of confidence.

7 – In treatment; Medical treatment (Some drugs claimed to harden and shrink the soft palate.)

Devices ; Mouth and chin prostheses, devices that have a stimulating effect when snoring, nasal opening drugs (appliances) applied into the nose

CPAP; It is the most used method among non-surgical options. (Continuous positive air pressor) Giving compressed air to the patient through the nose with the help of a machine. It is the most effective method in sleep apnea (moderate and severe apnea). However, there are differences in practical applications (especially patient compliance, especially in young patients).

Surgical Treatment; Tonsil and adenoid removal, lifting the soft palate, reducing the size of the uvula, curvature of the nasal bone. straightening, pulling the chin and big tongue forward with various methods, cutting off a part of the tongue or reducing the volume.

 

8 – First of all, losing weight means both volume reduction in the throat tissues and building a strong muscle. Regular exercise for the body's structure, staying away from drugs that can harm breathing (sleeping pills, tranquilizers, antihistamine drugs).

- Staying away from alcohol-containing drinks or not taking them too late.
- Avoiding excessive fatigue< br /> - Eat as little light and early as possible in the evening (eating and drinking should be finished 3 hours before sleeping.)
- Lying on your side
- Raising the head of your pillow from the waist
- Using nasal appliances sold in pharmacies Although it is partially beneficial, it is only effective in patients whose snoring originates from the nose. Additionally, sleeping with an appliance in the nose is not comfortable at all.
