Bedwetting Problems in Early Childhood

It is important for parents to spend time with their children and share. Love is touching. It is not the length of time spent with children that is important, but the intensity of emotion and shared sharing of time. A story read with your child, a meal cooked together, or playing house makes both parties happy. It is important that children are treated specially. The key to the art of raising children is love.

Toilet training should be given to the child calmly and without using force, after the age of 1.5 or 2, when the child has developed adequate muscle control. The child's readiness for this is very important, both spiritually and physically. If parents are forceful in toilet training, it not only damages the emotional balance of children, but also makes toilet training difficult and delays it. Children who have difficulty in toilet training may have adaptation and behavioral problems. What is important in this process is to support the child with a devoted and common sense attitude.

Bedwetting may occur as urinary incontinence when the child is awake during the day or while sleeping at night, after receiving toilet training. Heredity, bladder structure and the intensity of the child's sleep are very important in bedwetting problems. In addition to these, psychological reasons for bedwetting problems in children may include: reaction to a different experience, arrival of a new sibling in the family, not receiving the expected attention and affection from parents, living separately from parents. Apart from psychological reasons, physical problems such as diabetes and urinary tract infection may be included. Diseases may also be among the child's bedwetting problems. If your child wets the bed every other day or every night after gaining toilet training, a physician should first be consulted for a physical examination. If there is no problem after the physical examination of the child, it can be thought that it is due to reasons such as genetic factors, pedagogical approach to the child, the child's experiences in the immediate school family environment, and the recent effort to adapt to the extraordinary situation in his life. If your child only wets the bed at night, his night's sleep may be very deep. When he receives a signal and feels that he needs to go to the toilet, the child cannot wake up due to the heavy sleep. In this situation, parents wake up their children at night and take them to the bathroom. Remind them to use the toilet. Try to restrict the child's fluid intake 2 hours before going to bed in the evening and remind the child to go to the toilet one more time before going to sleep at night. Bedwetting problems seen from time to time in children up to the age of 5 can be considered normal. Other than that, support from a physician should be sought for frequent bedwetting.
