CAS (Cognitive Assessment System) Test

CAS Test is an intelligence and ability test that cognitively evaluates children between the ages of 5-17.

Turkish Standardization was made under the leadership of Istanbul University Faculty members and means Cognitive Assessment System in Turkish.

CAS has been put forward recently; “Intelligence is based on cognitive processes” is a current test based on the view that the brain works holistically.

CAS Test was developed to evaluate the Planning, Attention, Simultaneity and Sequential Cognitive processes of school-age children between the ages of 5-17. The application time of the test can last from 1 hour to two hours.

So, if we ask in which cases the CAS test is used;

It is a tool that can provide strong data in the educational, psychological and neurological diagnosis of many academic problems, especially Learning Disabilities. It is a test. It allows the measurement of a wide range of cognitive processes such as organization, impulse control, attention, problem solving and planning.

It is a suitable tool for evaluating the cognitive processing characteristics of children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. It can be used to identify children who are superior.

CAS allows comprehensive measurement of cognitive processes and can identify individuals who are superior in cognitive areas that cannot be measured by traditional intelligence tests. Since the measured functions are more comprehensive, it can identify children who are superior in various areas compared to those determined by traditional tests.

We can also use it to identify children with mental retardation. The CAS test provides an assessment that requires little if any information that the child has learned later through education. Thus, the child will not fail the tests due to lack of knowledge and his natural performance will be fully reflected in the scores. Since it allows the evaluation of many different cognitive processes, it can help in differential diagnosis.

After the test, personalized intervention programs and exercises can be prepared to develop the cognitive skills the child needs.
