RHINOPLASTY-NOSE AESTHETICS

Rhinoplasty is the general name for all surgical interventions that change the shape of the nose in order to change function or appearance, or both. The most common functional nasal problem is airway obstruction. Aesthetic deformity in the nose may be congenital, a result of trauma, or due to aging. Each patient is evaluated in detail. The examination is primarily a detailed observation of the patient's nose. Then, together with the patient, it is determined what is wrong or where the patient is not satisfied. Because the problem perceived by the patient and the problem identified by the doctor may be different. Then, a detailed ENT examination is performed to investigate the presence of other accompanying deformities. These factors are important in the operational plan. Nasal tip evaluation is very important. An attempt is made to predict how the nasal support structures will be affected over time. Also, airway is important.

I prefer open technique rhinoplasty operations. This choice is entirely a matter of how comfortable the surgeon feels. Your nose should be compatible with your face. If you have an unsightly hump on your nose, the tip of your nose is excessively droopy, or your nose looks disproportionate to the rest of your face because your nose is too thick or thin, rhinoplasty is the perfect solution to overcome these problems. Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) can change your appearance, increase your self-confidence and contribute positively to your health. Meanwhile, existing respiratory problems are resolved in the same session and satisfactory results are obtained both visually and in terms of respiratory health.

Recently, I have been using the ultrasonic surgery method for bone correction in my operations. This method is also known as the piezo surgery method. It is a revolutionary method based on the cutting and breaking methods we used to use during surgery, using ultrasonic sound waves. In piezo surgery, only the bone structure is worked on, vascular nerves and other soft tissues are not damaged. The biggest advantage of piezo surgery is that it can be worked very precisely on bone shaping and can be shaped according to the nose structure desired by the patient.

In practice, I do not apply tampons to any of my patients in order to avoid the problems the patient experiences due to tampons after surgery. The patient has a more comfortable process after the operation as he does not experience pain, swelling and respiratory distress due to the tampon. Surgical incisions made during rhinoplasty heal without leaving any scars. Since I use dissolvable stitches to stitch the incisions and inside the nose, I do not remove the stitches. Again, after the surgery, I remove the thermal splint that we placed on the back of the nose on the 4th day and replace it with a patch. After 2 days, that is, on the 6th day, there is no foreign object in the patient's nose.

If our patient uses glasses, I recommend not using glasses for about 3 months. Additionally, he/she can easily start sports activities after 4 weeks.
