It has been reported that colon and rectum diseases can progress from mild discomfort to life-threatening situations.
Prof. Dr. Adil Baykan noted that constant constipation and diarrhea, which are generally seen after the age of 50, are one of the most important symptoms of colon tumors. Baykan stated that women with uterine, ovarian or breast cancer, as well as those with close family members with the disease, are particularly at risk, and emphasized that screening tests should be performed to reduce the risk.
General Surgeon Prof. Dr. Adil Baykan stated that the number of colon tumors is increasing in Turkey and said, "However, most of the patients consult a physician late due to reasons such as lack of information, negligence, and embarrassment."
Prof. Dr. Baykan said that constipation and diarrhea are the most important symptoms of colon tumors. Explaining that early diagnosis and treatment of these diseases often saves lives, Prof. Dr. Baykan said:

Pointing out that the most important colon disease is colon and rectum cancer, Prof. Dr. Baykan said that with the increase in diagnostic methods and the shift in eating habits to industrial foods in Turkey, these diseases are encountered more frequently. Prof. Dr. Baykan said, “If early diagnosis and treatment methods can be applied, these cancers are the internal organ cancers that benefit most from treatment. "In fact, with screening tests, the disease can be detected before it occurs, and if it has, before its symptoms appear, and full recovery can be achieved by performing the necessary treatment," he said.

Baykan stated that screening tests should be performed to reduce the risk and said, “A diet with low fat, less red meat, plenty of vegetables and fruits should be followed and efforts should be made to get rid of alcohol and smoking habits. "In addition, these people should do 20-30 minutes of light exercises every day," he said.
